Canada is famous for its maple syrup and this fudge pays homage to La Belle Province’s finest export.
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Serving: 64 1” squares
1 can (300 mL) Eagle Brand® Regular sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup (125 mL) maple syrup
1 cup (250 mL) brown sugar
1 tbsp (15 mL) butter
1/2 cup (125 mL) chopped nuts (optional)
1. Combine sweetened condensed milk with maple syrup, brown sugar and butter. Cook and stir over low heat until mixture becomes a rich brown colour, about 20 minutes or
until a small amount of the mixture forms a soft ball when dropped in cold water.
2. Remove from heat and stir in nuts.
3. Spread mixture into parchment paper-lined 8×8″ (2 L) square pan. Cool completely and cut into squares.
1 1/3 cups sifted flour
2/3 cup cornmeal
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs – well beaten
2/3 cup milk
1/3 cup maple syrup
Sift dry ingredients together
Beat eggs in bowl, add milk, maple syrup and melted shortening
Blend dry ingredients in quickly to just moisten flour
Pour into greased muffin tins and bake at 350 degree F. for about 20 minutes
Well Saturday we were out at the shack, lots of visitors throughout the day. The hydro makes life so much simpler out there. The guys did some work on the kitchen, then a group of us walked the pipeline and put some more saddles on. Have to order more of those to finish up where we added the 50 extra taps this year.
Adding the debit machine has certainly made it easier for everyone in the store, will be great at the cash booth as well for Maple in the County.
