Cityline chef headlines Sugar Shack Shindig

Chef Devan Rajkumar

Walt’s Sugar Shack Shindig promises a day of family fun this August in support of the PECMH Foundation. Headlining the event will be Chef Devan Rajkumar, culinary guest expert on Cityline TV.

Rajkumar’s love for food and quest to showcase his talent is observable when he is engaged in preparing a menu demonstrating for the public, competing in live culinary challenges, working the line at various restaurants, catering high-end events, food styling or performing on television.

As well as his appearances on City TV, he is a brand ambassaor for Food Dudes, Blue Goose Pure Foods and Liberterre. He is the co-founder of The Underground Chef Cartel.

Walt’s Sugar Shack, on Salem Road, Consecon are hosting the event and planning a day filled with a pancake breakfast, food, live music, and a market of local products. The PEC Fire Department will be on site with its new fire truck, and an antique truck, and plans also include a display of antique tractors.

Fun will unfold from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free of charge, but visitors are encouraged to make goodwill donations.

As part of the fundraising activities for the day, Brian Walt and family are planning a silent auction and an online auction and are seeking donated items for the event.

Funds raised will help equip the County’s doctors, nurses and technologists with updated equipment necessary to care for the more than 35,000 patients Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital serves each year.
